Susan J. Torres, 78, Oneida, began her journey to the spirit world on October 30, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Susan was born in Oneida on March 28, 1945, to Manuel Torres Sr. and Alice (Denny) Torres.

She graduated from Seymour High School and studied Horticulture at NWTC and photography, art, and psychology at Harry S. Truman College, Chicago, IL.

Susan loved being active and getting involved with the community. She enjoyed singing with the Oneida Hymn Singers, taking Oneida Language classes, attending Great Lakes Native American Elder Association conferences, going to Oneida outdoor adventures, elder activities, JMIO, raising & releasing butterflies, writing poetry, and playing with her cat Java. She loved her grandchildren so very much.

Susan is survived by her children, Lorena (Brian) Jordan, Dana Isaac, Tahni Torres, KaniɁyaka AɁnowal, and Tyler Torres. Her 20 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, with one on the way. Her siblings; Mother Alicia Torres TCG, Linda Torres and Richard Ackley, Michael Torres, Nancy Torres, William (Sandy) Torres, Joanne (Greg) Torres, Carol Torres, Joseph Torres, Karen Torres, and Rick Torres. Susan is further survived by her special friends Marlene & Rosalie, good friend Lloyd, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her cat Java.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jude Torres, brother Jesse Torres, niece Krystal Torres, nephew Ricky Torres, and her late husband Amzie Isaac.

Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere from 2:30PM, Saturday, November 4, 2023. The Oneida Hymn Singers will sing at 6:30PM, followed by a service at 7:00PM. Burial will take place at the Oneida Sacred Burial Grounds.
