Suzanne M. Vandelist, 83, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 with her family by her side. Sue was born in Green Bay on December 3, 1937 to the late James and Catherine (Toonen) Lamal. Sue graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay.
On July 30, 1960, Sue married Tom Vandelist at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Green Bay. Tom preceded Sue in death earlier this year, on April 26, 2021.
Sue was involved in keeping the many family businesses running smoothly, from ordering and bookkeeping with Grandview Dairy to working the order window, greeting everyone with a smile at Cathy's Frozen Custard in De Pere.
Sue's greatest joy was raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage on Clark Lake, golfing, family vacations to Florida or just sitting in the sun by the pool. Sue and Tom were blessed with wonderful neighbors and loved their visits on the patio. Whether it was a quick wave hello or a visit with a few cocktails, Ken, Penny, Chris and Maggie, you have become part of our family.
Sue is survived by her children, Jack Vandelist and Cathy (Randy) Marquis; daughter-in-law, Bridget Vandelist; grandchildren, Joe (Lauren) Vandelist, Tommy Vandelist, Matthew Marquis (special friend Katlyn Bohr) and Paige Marquis; her brother, James (Merle) Lamal, sister-in-law, Barbara Grinnell and brother-in-law, Mark (Lisa) Vandelist. She is further survived by her nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her son, Michael Vandelist, father and mother-in-law, Norbert (Evelyn) Vandelist; her brother and sister-in-law Richard (Betty) Lamal and brother-in-law Robert Grinnell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Community Church of De Pere, 4805 Sportsman Drive from 10:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Fr. Matthew Faucett officiating. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the 9th floor nurses at St. Vincent Hospital for the wonderful care given to Sue during her stay and also to her granddaughter Paige for the extra special care while at Rennes Health Center in De Pere.
