Thomas James Janssen, 56, passed away June 26th in his home in De Pere, Wisconsin. Tom was born on November 12th, 1959 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Jerry (Chum) and Mary Jane (Leininger) Janssen.
Tom was a lifetime resident of De Pere where he attended St. Joseph's Grade School, Abbott Pennings High School, and graduated from St. Norbert's College. After graduation, he went to work for Alexander & Alexander Insurance and later started his own company, Janssen Insurance Agency.
He grew up with a passion for athletics and displayed that on the field where he was an All State running back for APHS and continued his football career in college.
In addition to playing sports, Tom was also an avid sports fan. His fandom was never more apparent than when he was watching his beloved Green Bay Packers, which came second only to watching his own kids compete in sports. Tom was always generous with his time, starting a booster club to contribute to the East De Pere football program, which both of his sons participated.
Tom is survived by his children; Lucas, Kayla (Bryant), Emily, and Sam, grandson Jonathan, the mother of his children, Sandy, his parents Chum and Mary Jane Janssen, his sister Julie Gasaway (Rick), brother Mike Janssen (Julie), brother Pat Janssen (Alison), along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles that loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence (Sheep) and Bernice Janssen, Melvin and Dorothy Leininger, Great Aunt Lauretta Baeten, Uncle Tom Vandreel, Aunt Joyce Janssen and cousins Rick and Larry Quinette.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, De Pere after 8:30 AM Thursday, June 30, 2016, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating.
