Obituary

Thomas Roland Rasmussen, 60, passed away on Wednesday December 22, 2010 at home, surrounded by family and friends. Tom was born to the late Roland and Betty (McDermid) Rasmussen on August 19, 1950. Tom married the former Nancy House on September 27, 1969 at Holy Apostles Church in Oneida. Tom was a volunteer fireman for the Oneida Volunteer Fire Department for thirty-five years and owned R-Team Construction along with his wife. Tom also worked for the Oneida Tribe of Indians-Construction, George House Construction, James E. Johnson Construction and Moore Business Forms. Tom had many hobbies: horseshoes, darts, golf, cards (cribbage and klink-31), country music-camping, hunting, Fourth of July fireworks (an annual event at home to which all were welcome), messing around with with his grandchildren, teasing, joking and at family gatherings. Tom was a person who donated his time and skills to help everyone and anyone, "fire starter" for the well known Oneida "Booyah", church/wedding/other functions, always willing to help as needed to lend a hand, suggest, advise or just to have a lasting joke to tell. Tom is survived by his wife Nancy of forty years, five children, Jay (friend Chad) Rasmussen, Jeff (Jacy) Rasmussen, Dean (friend Jen) Rasmussen, Amy (Cale) Hacker and Gene "Pork" (Shakira) Rasmussen, all of Oneida. Seven grandchildren, Jordyn, Sequoia, Riley, Dyvonn, Kage, Sierra and Zander. Tom is also survived by his siblings, Timothy Rasmussen, of Howard, Susan (Kenneth) Ambrosius, Suamico, Randy (Nali) Rasmussen, Wausau, Nancy (Jerry) Farrell, Green Bay, and William (Paula) Rasmussen, DePere. Tom also had many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and many friends that will sadly miss him. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Betty Rasmussen, two brothers, John and Joseph, his in-laws, George and Ethel House and brother-in-law, Ricky House. Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday December 27, 2010. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 am. The Funeral Cortege, with Fire Department and Police Escorts will leave Ryan's at 9:45 am Tuesday. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, Freedom Road, Oneida, with Mother Kristina Henning and Deacon Debra Heckel, officiating.
