Violet Ann (Golonka) Amundson passed away peacefully at her home, Friday, December 16, 2011. Violet was born June 2, 1942 to the late Ben and Florence (Borowski) Golonka, in the Town of Sobieski. Her memory of her childhood in Sobieski sounded like a Norman Rockwell painting. She went through Kindergarten through 8th grade, with the same handful of kids in a two room school house.
After graduation from Pulaski High School, she lived in Arizona briefly with her sister, Jeanne and her family. Upon returning to Wisconsin, she worked at WG&R and bought her first car, a black Corvair. She met and married and became part of the Amundson family.
They lived in Sobieski for several years. Vi served as the Treasurer of Little Suamico. She became a single mother to her son Lee and moved to Green Bay. She held several accounting positions, including HC Miller and Shopko. Her last employer was at Sam's Club.
Vi loved nature, walks in the woods, Cajun, disco, polka and rock music, black-eyed susans, golfing and was an avid reader.
She loved dogs, especially her Chihuahuas: Smokey, Whiskers, Sammy, and Lola.
She loved the Packers. Her favorite players were James Lofton, Brett Favre, and of course Mr. Rodgers.
She loved to travel with her son and her favorite places were London, New Orleans, and New York.
In her later years, she battled Muscular Dystrophy. In 2009, she was diagnosed with Cancer.
She is survived by her son, Dayton Lee (Todd and his family), sister Barbara (Jerry) Kershek, brother Kenneth (Shirley) Golonka, aunt Lillian Golonka, aunt Joan Borowski, brother-in-law Richard Woitula, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Florence and Ben Golonka, sister Jeanne Woitula, and nephew Randy Golonka. Also, best friend Pat Golonka.
A private family visitation will be held at a later date at RYAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the Amundson family.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice and especially Tara for allowing her to die peacefully at home.
Any memorials can be directed to the Bay Area Humane Shelter, 1830 Radisson St. Green Bay, WI 54302, Vi's favorite cause.
