Obituary

Virginia Dorothy Hastings, 94 passed away at home on September 8, 2024. She was born in Akron, Ohio on November 12, 1929 to the late LeRoy and Belulah (Ball) Small. Virginia graduated from La Crosse Central High School. She was married to Richard Hasting for 69 years before his passing in 2017.

Together, Virginia and Dick were entrepreneurs, owning and operating several businesses from A+W Root beer stands in Cedar Falls and Waterloo, Iowa to Arrowhead Archery in Green Bay. Virginia was the business mind; she was very gifted in bookkeeping and management skills. Dick was the people person; he made friends with everyone.

Ginny and Dick loved hunting, boating, fishing, bowling, ATVing, and archery. Ginny was once named the Women's National Indoor Instinctive Archery Champion. In their later years, they loved four-wheeling. They would ride through the mountains near Quartzsite, AZ where they lived. They also loved playing cards with their friends.

She spent her last years living with her daughter Lori and son-in-law Bob. Her children, Lori, Vicki, Kelly and her grandson Greg were her caregivers and took excellent care of her. She was blessed to always be with her children until the moment she died. She was a wonderful sister to her 9 siblings, and taught them the good things of life. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all her family and friends, but we have become better people because she touched our lives.

Virginia is survived by her children, Vicki (Bill) Mc Iver, Kelly (Juleigh) Hastings, and Lori (Bob) Haglund, grandchildren, Greg, Dan, Gini (Paul), Leah (Nate), Bethany (Brandon), Alexander (Kari), Jessica, and Jonathan. She is further survived by her great- grandchildren, Autumn, Lily, Hannah, Jacob, Matthew, Thomas, Emma, Harper, Benjamin, Adalee, Westyn, Paisley, Corbyn, Samsyn, Graesyn, Izabelle, Logan, as well as 156 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her brothers LeRoy and Robert, her sisters Martha, Edna, Jeanette, Judy, and her parents, LeRoy and Beulah Small.
