Virginia Mary (Heinen) Korbeck of Green Bay died March 13, 2009 at age 82. She was born Nov. 4, 1926 to Arnold and Therese Heinen in Milwaukee, Wis. Both preceded her in death.
She graduated from Cathedral High School in Milwaukee in 1945.On May 13, 1961; she was united in marriage to Edward P. Korbeck of Fredonia, Wis. at Christ King Catholic Church in Wauwatosa. The couple ran a dairy farm in Fredonia until 1965, then moved to Milwaukee where Edward worked for many years as a machinist.
In 1995, they moved to De Pere to be near their daughters. Virginia lost most of her eyesight from macular degeneration, and much of her hearing, became wheelchair bound and has been a resident at Golden Living Center on Shawano Avenue since 2002.
Virginia enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers on TV in spite of her handicaps. She was a devoted grandmother and loved attending family events where she could be near her four grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in De Pere.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Edward of De Pere; two daughters, Sharon (Donald) Verbeten of De Pere and Kathleen (Terry) Gerbers of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Abby Gerbers, Alaina Gerbers, Steven Gerbers and Holland Verbeten; three brothers, John (Lois) Heinen of Brookfield, Brother Conrad Heinen of Appleton and Howard (Helen) Heinen of Elm Grove; four sisters, Therese (Herbert) Jarosz of Franklin, JoAnn Godkin of Greenfield, Edith Abblett of Florida and Florene (James) Ullrich of Tennessee; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation for Virginia will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Suburban and Lourdes, De Pere from 9:00 AM until time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM at church with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O. Praem. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in De Pere.
