Virginia O. McKenna passed away peacefully April 11, 2011 at Angel's Touch Assisted Living. Virginia was born in Milwaukee on October 7, 1923 to the late Arthur and Arabella (Zuern) Reuter. She graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1941 and from Marquette University School of Nursing in 1945. Virginia worked as an RN floor nurse and as an industrial nurse. She met Robert McKenna, the love of her life, on a blind date and together they shared almost fifty-six years of marriage until Robert's death on April 16, 2003.
Virginia's hobbies and interests included watching sporting events, belonging to various bridge clubs, traveling, playing golf , and times spent with her many friends. Virginia 's greatest joy, though, was time spent with her family. She answered to various nicknames: Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandma, and even "Perk", given her interest in following the sagas of "Ma Perkins" through a syndicated radio show in the 1950's. Virginia was a member of the Service League of Green Bay, a volunteer at the American Red Cross Blood Bank, and a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family in De Pere.
She is survived by her six loving children: Michael (Jeanne) McKenna, Green Bay, Mary (Jeffrey) Meisinger, Green Bay, Kathleen (James) Lenihan, Waukesha, Timothy (Jeanne) McKenna, Polson, Montana; Maureen (Thomas) Reilly, Akron, OH; and Patrick (Pamela) McKenna, Madison. She is further survived by twenty-five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, 3 sisters in law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Robert, her parents and her sister, Jean Mary Reuter, preceded Virginia in death.
Family and Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive in De Pere after 9:00am Saturday, April 16, 2011 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am with Fr.
