IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wally B.
Reichstadter
March 28, 1943 – April 13, 2024
Walter B. (Wally) Reichstadter, age 81, died peacefully at the Jack & Engrid Meng Residence, Ledgeview, WI early Saturday, April 13, 2024. He was born in Chicago, IL on March 28, 1943 to Walter B. Reichstadter, Sr. and Ruth (Ueslding) Reichstadter. He loved playing outside and looked forward to frequent trips to the family cottage at Eagle Lake Manor, Kansasville, WI. He graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago in January 1961. He and Linda Raiman were united in marriage on June 22, 1968 at Gladstone Park Lutheran Church in Chicago.
Always one who loved to tinker with cars, he attended auto mechanic school and then General Motors' auto technician school, becoming a Pontiac mechanic. As they began their family they moved to the Burlington, WI area.
In 1973, he was approached by his employer to pursue training on a new car they wanted to sell. After an intensive 1 week training session in New Orleans he became the first certified Honda automobile mechanic in the state of WI.
During their years in Southeast WI he became a volunteer firefighter (and water fighter!). He proudly served for 22 years in a variety of roles. While he was with the Rochester Fire Fighters, they became the first rural department to attain a fire rating under 8.
In 1994 he took on a new role as pastor's spouse which brought him to Richland Center, WI and his own trophy & engraving business. Later it took them to Northeast Iowa and a job at Iowa Welcome Center at Osborne. He also joined the Brush Creek Canyon Cruisers car club to enjoy driving his '68 Chevelle throughout beautiful Northeast Iowa.
Always a lover of music, and especially barbershop music, he had the joy of joining the Keystone Chorus in 2001 and in 2015 the Baylanders' Chorus here in Green Bay.
Wally is survived by his wife, Linda, children Alicia, Walter (Aga) and Linnea (Rick) Kriewaldt and grandchildren Marcus Laabs, Trenton, Callan, and Kyla Kriewaldt, Mercedes Novak, and Nina and Viktor Reichstadter, and great-grandchildren Fabian and Amira Kelly-Lindsey. He is also survived by sisters and brother-in-law Janette Rangel, Diane and Jerry Russo, Nancy Raiman, Peggy Adamson, Karen Gillen and brother and sister-in-law Rick and Jon Raiman and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, Sr. and Ruth Reichstadter, 1 sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and David Riddle; in laws, Richard and Lorrayne Raiman, brothers-in-law George Adamson and Tennessee Rangel and niece Christine Johnston's husband Ron.
Family and friends may call at St. John Lutheran Church, Scheuring Road and Lost Dauphin, De Pere, WI on Friday, April 19 from 9 - 11 a.m. Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Cindy Warmbier-Meyer presiding. All are invited to join in a meal at the church following worship.
Special thanks to all those at Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice who provided care and ministered to his and the family's needs.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Rochester Volunteer Fire-Fighter Assoc., The American Cancer Society, or St. John Lutheran Church.
