Walter "Norman" Skenandore, 82, Oneida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday afternoon July 13, 2015. He was born January 28, 1933 to the late Walter L. and Eva (Metoxen) Skenandore. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Norman was an avid golfer, who achieved a Hole in One. He also liked to watch horse racing at the track and on television. It was time spent with family that meant the most to him.
Norman is survived by his wife Beverly, his daughter Raeann (Arnold Summers) Skenandore, his step children; Kim Metoxen & Donnie Lewis, Arnold (Mary) Metoxen, Lola Metoxen, Todd (Tina) Metoxen, Stacey (Guadalupe) Nieto, as well as 14 grandchildren. Norman is further survived by his siblings; Ruth Wagner, Alice Ninham, Marge Funmaker, Eva Doxtator, and Ron (Carol) Skenandore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step son; Brian Metoxen, and his siblings; Lawrence Skenandore, Thelma Keiser, Martha King, Emily Skenandore, Ellsworth "Beanie" Skenandore, James Skenandore as well as brothers and sisters in law.
Friends may call at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Oneida from 4 8pm Wednesday (TODAY) July 15, 2015. The Oneida Hymn Singers will sing at 6pm followed by a prayer service at 6:30pm led by Pastor Lonnie Johnson. Visitation will continue after 9:30am Thursday at Woodland Worship Center 760 Airport Drive, Oneida, until time of service at 11am with Pastor Lonnie Johnson officiating.
