IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William F.
O'Donnell
April 17, 1959 – February 13, 2026
William Francis O'Donnell, 66, passed away in De Pere surrounded by love, with his daughter, son-in-law, and best friend by his side (and undoubtedly a few jokes still floating in the air). He was born on April 17, 1959, in Menominee, Michigan, to Neil O'Donnell and Rita O'Donnell (Moran).
Bill went to De Pere High School and later earned his GED in 1977. He spent most of his life working in construction. He had an incredible eye for seeing what could be; he could walk into any space and instantly know how to make it better, cooler, and more alive. He wasn't just a builder; he was an artist who happened to use tools.
Bill loved life, and he lived it his way. He loved to travel and firmly believed the journey mattered just as much as the destination, especially if it involved back roads. Even a quick drive could stretch into a mini road trip when Bill was in charge of the route.
Music was woven into Bill's soul. He was always singing, playing guitar, dancing, or convincing others to join in. Many nights ended with Bill playing guitar around a bonfire, surrounded by friends, laughter, and probably someone saying, "Just one more song." One of Bill's greatest gifts was bringing people together. If you knew Bill, chances are you also knew people because of Bill.
The greatest joy of his life was his granddaughter, Marie Rebarchik. Their bond was something truly special, full of love, laughter, and moments that will be cherished forever.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Sachs (Michael); his granddaughter, Marie Rebarchik; his brothers, Dennis (JoAnne) and Thomas; and his sisters, Peg Axelson; Patt (Gil) Nowak; Terry (Richard) Albers; and Katie O'Donnell (Tom Goth). He is also survived by his aunts, Margaret Moran and Kay (Norbert) Zelten, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were more like family. A very special mention goes to his best friend, Jenny Chevalier, his chosen family and constant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Neil O'Donnell; his brother, John O'Donnell; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles who no doubt welcomed him with open arms, and maybe a guitar.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Unity Hospice for their compassionate care, and to the staff at The Meng Residencefor ensuring Bill's final hours were peaceful and filled with dignity. We are also deeply grateful for the unwavering love, support, and gentle care shown by his niece, Jennifer Nowak, his cousins, Jim Moran and Brian Moran, and dear friends Amanda Jagodinsky, Aaron Chevalier, and Jenny Chevalier who cared for Bill with love and devotion. A special thank you to his sisters, Patt (Gil) Nowak and Katie O'Donnell (Tom Goth), for the countless ways they stepped in to help, and to Gil and Tom for their steady support of both Bill and our family during this time.
Friends and family may gather at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026. A service will immediately follow, and knowing Bill, stories and laughter are encouraged. Go ahead and tell a story, play a song, and take the long way home; Bill would have wanted it that way.
