William "Bill" C. Vande Hei, 80, De Pere, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born March 6, 1934 in Manitowoc, WI, a son of the late William H. and Anne (Groffman) Vande Hei. On December 26, 1955 he married the former Mary Ann Borst in Marinette, WI. Bill served in the US Navy, was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Abbot Pennings Council 3955. Bill was a Grand Knight, served as a District Officer, was instrumental in starting the Tootsie Roll Drive, and for 28 years he played Santa Claus for the special needs children in the area. Bill worked for the Wisconsin Public Service for 34 years. He was involved with coaching baseball the Drum & Bugle Corps of Menominee, MI, and worked at the Green Bay Bobcats Hockey games. Bill and Mary Ann wintered Arizona and also enjoyed the time at the cottage at Three Lakes. Bill also enjoyed travelling to and hosting Naval reunions in Green Bay and throughout the country. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Vande Hei; four children: Deb (Lee) Mosbrucker of Roseville, CA, Cindy (Joe) Sherwood, Karen (Kevin) Ploof, and Bill (Kelly) Vande Hei; his nine grandchildren: Ashely (John) McCurry, Lindsay Mosbrucker, Adam (Stacey) Sherwood, Beth Sherwood, Erin sherwood, Alex Ploof, Sean Ploof, Amber Vande Hei , and Faith Vande Hei; his three great grandchildren: Kolton, McCurry, Carson Sherwood, and Cadence Sherwood. He is further survived by his brother John (Joan) Vande Hei; sisters-in-law Eunice Borst and Morie Borst; and nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law Peter and Mary Borst; and brothers-in-law Tom Borst and Bob Borst. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St, Green Bay.
