William "Bill" B. Verhasselt, 79, of De Pere, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 at a local nursing home. He is a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Berendsen) Verhasselt. On July 1, 1961 Bill married the former Bernice Verhaagh in Glenmore, WI and together they lived a wonderful 53 years together. Bill was an office manager for the former Green Bay Canning Company and retired in 1996 after 22 years there.
From 1954 to 1958 Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Bill truly enjoyed feeding birds, doing tax preparations for family, gardening, playing games, being an armchair weather man, and just being with his family with whatever they are doing.
Bill is survived by his wife Bernice Verhasselt of De Pere; his three children: Debbie (Larry) Wutt of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy (Mike) Muller of Grand Haven, MI, and Randy (Rebecca) Verhasselt of Holland, MI; five grandchildren: Lindsey Muller, Kelly Muller, Kristina Verhasselt, Marcel Muller, and Drew Verhasselt. He is further survived by his siblings: Therese (Jerry) Noskowiak, Agnes Verhasselt, Ruth Verhasselt, Jerry Verhasselt, Bob (Magdalena) Verhasselt, Verene Ferrona, and Pat Verhasselt; sister-in-law Jane Verhasselt, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Fr. Richard Verhasselt and Jim Verhasselt; and sister Valerie (Jerry) Hecker.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1308 Lourdes Ave, De Pere. Entombment will follow in Allouez Mausoleum.
