Winona Violet Vieau, 89, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1922 in Oneida, WI a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ameila (Wheelock) Jordan.
Violet was very active in helping during WWII as a welder in Sturgeon Bay. She owned and operated the Drive-In in Oneida and was instrumental in starting the tribal Smoke Shops; her drive-in being the first. . She loved telling stories to anyone who would listen and playing cards, changing the rules every time she played. She was a good prankster. Violet also worked at the Salvation Army and helped with giving rides to people.
Violet is survived by her son Benjamin Vieau and daughter Geraldine Bopray; Ben's children: Makin, Felicia, Brandon, Clayton, Sherri and their children; Geraldine's daughters Angela (Jerry) Rausch their son Mike (Jenny) Rausch (Addison) and Andrea Cuene and her daughters Samantha and Sophia and their father Casey; grandchildren: Brian (Yvonne) Vieau and his children Simone and Christian, and Myron Vieau. She is further survived by her siblings: Mabel White, Doyle Jordan, and Josephine Oudenhoven; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband Orlando E. Vieau, son Orlando "Lanny" W. Vieau; grandson David Bopray Jr; son-in-law David Bopray Sr; parents Benjamin and Ameila Jordan, siblings: Priscilla Manders, Melvin Jordan, Eleanor Jackson, John Jordan, Peter Mervin Jordan, and Mae Jordan; her father and mother-in-law and many friends and family.
Family and friends may call on Monday, February, 27, 2012 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Oneida Singers at 6:00 PM and a Prayer service 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Holy Apostle's Episcopal Church, Oneida from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM with Fr.
