Patrick “Pat” H. Smits, 65, Howard, was received by his heavenly Father into eternal life on Wednesday April 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born the 4th of 11 children on July 18, 1951 to the late Richard and Margaret Smits. He was a Class of ’69 graduate of Ashwaubenon High School and then attended NWTC and received an Associate Degree in Carpentry. Pat married Linda Schwartz on August 4, 1972 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Green Bay. For 45 years, Patrick worked as a HVAC Technician for Paradise Heating and Cooling where he was treated like family.
Pat was an active member and elder at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Green Bay. He enjoyed watching and attending Green Bay Packer games, making Booyah for the family, woodworking and playing dart ball. He also enjoyed attending and watching Civil War reenactments. Pat was a hard worker, always willing to help others and lend a hand. He had a strong faith, outstanding work ethic, was honest, sincere, and devoted to his family; a great role model to all.
Pat is survived by his wife, Linda, and their daughter, Sarah. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Jim (Sandi) Smits, Kathy Carter, Sue (Mark) Rusch, Ellen Enderby, Julie (Steve) Babiash, Terri (Roy) Fruzen, Tom Smits, Mike Smits, Rod (Lori) Smits; his mother-in-law Floretta Schwartz; Linda’s brother, Jim (Susan) Schwartz; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard and Margaret Smits; brothers-in-law, Jerry Carter and Bruce Enderby; infant sister, Mary Jo Smits; father-in-law William Schwartz; infant brother-in-law, William Schwartz, Jr.
Friends and family may call at Pilgrim Lutheran Church - Suamico Site, 2999 Lakeview Drive, Suamico, WI. 54173 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 17, 2017. Visitation will continue at Pilgrim Lutheran Church - Green Bay Site, 1731 St. Agnes Drive, Green Bay, WI 54304 on Tuesday, April 18 from at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Pat’s family would like to thank Roger Schmitz “first responder”, Aurora Baycare Medical Center and the UW Health Transplant Team in Madison for assisting in making Pat’s wishes to donate his organs come true.
