Oneida Nation

The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin

The Oneida Nation originated in upstate New York. Following the Revolutionary War, nearly five million acres of their ancestral homelands were lost with the formation of the United States and the State of New York. In the years that followed, many Oneida people relocated to Wisconsin. In 1838, the Treaty with the Oneida established the 65,400-acre Oneida Indian Reservation along Duck Creek. For nearly 200 years, the Oneida Nation has made this land their home.

Ryan Funeral Home began its relationship with the Oneida Nation on January 30, 1928, assisting an Oneida family with the funeral service for Mrs. Lucinda Powless. Since that time, it has been a privilege to respectfully incorporate Oneida customs and traditions into the services provided to families.

Over the decades, Ryan Funeral Home has been honored to share in both times of celebration and times of loss within the Oneida community. The funeral home has also proudly supported numerous Oneida organizations, including the VFW, Elder Services, Veterans Affairs, area churches, and many community fundraisers and benefit events.

Ryan Funeral Home remains committed to honoring the traditions, history, and values of the Oneida Nation and looks forward to continuing this longstanding relationship for generations to come
